A prolific and award-winning koto player and composer, Nakata Hiroyuki was born in Tokyo 1911. Began koto studies with Eishō Koshino I in 1927, from whom he received his master's license in 1944. Appointed president of the Yamada-ryū Koto Kyokai in 1989. Designated as a Living National Treasure in 1990. Appointed Vice President of the Japan Sankyoku Kai in 1991.
